Following Jesus’ Example to Withdrawal & Pray

Hello Sisters,

There is a common NEED I’ve noticed amongst the mothers that God has brought into my circle. It’s the need for MORE TIME! Better time management. Or as I like to call it, better CHOICE management.

Moms have a lot on their plate, wearing many hats, and they often don’t have enough time for ALL THE THINGS they’re carrying.

Within this need for time, I have to point out that the greatest thing we can make time for but often skip over is time with Jesus.

Moms do not give themselves the time and space to withdraw and pray but JESUS DID!

I know you want more time to do all the things on your to do list.

I know you want clarity, direction, and peace from the Lord…

Are you making the time and space for God to be the FOCUS of your life?

Luke 5:15-16 says  But now even more the report about him went abroad, and great crowds gathered to hear him and to be healed of their infirmities. But he would withdraw to desolate places and pray.

Next time you have the thought or an excuse that you don’t have time to get into the word of God, or that you don’t have the time to sit quietly and pray… I want you to consider that the Lord Himself had crowds gathering to hear from Him but He still prioritized time to withdraw and pray.

In Luke 6:12 it says, In these days he went out to the mountain to pray, and all night he continued to pray to God.

He continued in prayer all night…

He did all these good works, walking here and there, healing the sick, serving the people, speaking in parables, giving these epic speeches, literally transforming the world as we know it.

All that Serving, All that showing up! He then stayed up all night in prayer.

When is the last time you made any level of sacrifice to be able to pray to God?

“Make time for the God that inclines His ear to every one of our prayers.” -Sasha Star Robertson

Make time for the God that inclines His ear to every one of our prayers.

Make time for the God that desires relationship and communication with you.

Jesus wants you to be intentional with your time & prayers!

Luke 9:10 says On their return the apostles told him all that they had done. And he took them and withdrew apart to a town called Bethsaida.

Mark 6:31-32 says And he said to them, “come away by yourselves to a desolate place and rest a while.” For many were coming and going, and they went in the boat to a desolate place by themselves.

The feeding of the 5000 is chalked full of examples where Jesus and the disciples withdrew to a desolate place to pray and the importance it held.

Matthew 26:36 says,  Then Jesus went with them to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to his disciples, “Sit here, while I go over there and pray.

Matthew 26:39 says,  And going a little farther he fell on his face and prayed, saying, “My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will.”

He is sharing His heart with God. This is a really powerful example that God truly just wants to be with us, and to hear us speak what is on our hearts and our thoughts toward Him. He cares about our desires. He also cares that we ultimately want His will for our lives.

When we get to a place in a relationship with Him where we know He has good for us and His will is ultimately good, then we’re able to pray for His will to be done.

How do we get to that place?

RISE early! Be the LIGHT!

Mark 1:35-36 says And rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, he departed and went out to a desolate place, and there he prayed. And Simon and those who were there with him searched for him.

He rose early in the morning when it was still dark. This resonates with Proverbs 31:15 which says, She rises while it is yet night and provides food for her household and portions for her maidens.

Jesus Himself rose early while it was still night.

He went off to a desolate place to pray.

The #1 thing that has held the greatest transformation and produced the biggest effect on how I show up for myself and my family… is to get up before my family and spend time with God… just like Jesus does in Mark 1:35 and the Proverbs 31 woman does… rise early while it’s still dark! I go to a desolate place to pray and read the word of God and sit in His presence because that is truly what He wants for us.

-Sasha Star Robertson

Every single day we need to make sure we’re taking time to rest, to sit, and process as busy moms.

We need to have intentional time when we are seeking Him and praying to Him even though we have a laundry list of things to do.

WE NEED TO MAKE TIME FOR GOD TO BE OUR FOCUS!!!

Jesus walked away from everything He had going on, from crowds waiting for Him, and from His disciples. If Jesus can walk away from all these people depending on Him, we as His followers should be taking the time away to pray and to seek the presence of God, just as Christ did.
